Ashley Mendoza, a rising senior at Holy Names Academy, wrote a card to SLSCA that really warmed our hearts. She and fellow classmates volunteer at FAME sewing circles because they believe in our cause and they have fun! (Though these girls are very busy students attending a demanding school, they have continued to volunteer long after accumulating the number of service hours they need for credit.)
Ashley wrote, in part: "Thank you for giving me the opportunity to be a part of such a wonderful organization that works for a cause I am passionate about. I've been volunteering at the sewing circle for almost two years and I truly have enjoyed each time. You guys at the sewing circle have taught me to stand up for people in need, perseverance, determination, and thankfulness for what I have. The volunteers are all kind, caring, trusting, and friendly... I love the cause we are working for, and meeting new people from all genders, ages, races, and religions." (And she gave a shout-out for the food <grin>.)
