October 6th just became Sister Cities Day in Washington state, by proclamation of Governor Inslee. Four SLSCA representatives were at the State Capitol in Olympia to celebrate, at the Washington State Conference of Sister Cities International. Our president, LueRachelle Brim-Atkins, delivered a passionate presentation about building and strengthening community bonds, and how we are creating and delivering sustainable hygiene kits to girls in Cameroon (and teaching women there to make the kits). Alfreda Lanier, Claudia Webb, and Smyrna Melvin Young were her backup team. They exhibited our kits, distributed SLSCA information, and engaged in many conversations about our ongoing project. And they received a donation. Good work!
